Xiegu X6100 description :

Integrated, and ultra-portable. The transceiver inherits the compact and high performance characteristics of the Xiegu "X" series (see Xiegu X5105). As a new generation flagship, it still achieves a powerful integration to meet your various expectations and requirements for portable ones. The X6100 adopts the SDR software radio platform architecture of excellent performance, which carries powerful baseband and RF unit, and integrates rich and diversified operating functions, bringing you a brand-new recognition and experience on Ham radio. With its compact structure and tiny appearance, you can immediately set forth on a journey with it, get close to nature, and enjoy the fun of outdoor communication.

Complete functions, and rich configuration. The transceiver has most of the unique functions of SDR device, such as variable bandwidth filter (selectivity), digital noise reduction (DNR), digital pulse interference elimination (NB), recording call, spectrum and waterfall display (band scope), preset message, modem (for CW, RTTY, and PSK), I/Q signal output which is used to connect to external sampling equipment for auxiliary reception, etc. It complies with the functional configuration requirements of the current mainstream digital RTX.

Xiegu X6100 adopts independent baseband and RF unit. The baseband unit provides control, data and signal DSP, multimedia interface functions, and can add new functions continuously through system upgrade. The RF unit adopts the SDR structure and uses the dual-channel structure with separate transmitting and receiving on 24-bit sampling and large dynamic front-end unit. The whole machine provides two USB interfaces, supporting HOST and DEVICE. It has an extensible external microSD card, which is used to store channel data or voice information. It provides an ACC (accessories) interface, with a dedicated cable, it can be directly connected to the XPA125B power amplifier, to achieve automatic control. It provides a standard KEY jack for the connection of hand keys and automatic keys. It provides an S/P interface, which can be customized as an external speaker or earphone through menu selection.

Xiegu X6100 display :

The 4-inch (10.2cm) high brightness high-resolution color screen (800 x 480 pixel), carrying a powerful quadcore mobile processor, 4Gb ROM, 512Mb RAM, is designed to meet future requirements.

Xiegu X6100 review

IU3BLAAugust-17 2022

A friend gave it to me for a few days. It is such a fun rig! Let's be clear, to make QSO on 40 meters with a full-size antenna would need a front-end stage with a higher dynamic range at night due to the nearby broadcasting stations above 7200 kHz. For /p use its performance is adequate, the same for the functions which to be honest are many. I cannot say that I have tested them all in the few days available. For those I have used, the judgment is very positive. I can recommend it.

I found the RTX very practical in field operations. A longer battery life would be preferable, as well as a better performing microphone response. Of course, you can't have everything in one compact package. However, it seems to me that Xiegu is on the right track.

The X6100 has an App for decoding CW, BPSK and RTTY. Personally I have used it very little, but I like to have a truly autonomous all-mode RTX in my hand. The display shows the waterfall, the audio spectrum, the text area for the received message and the WPM measurement of the tuned CW station. Not bad for a Ham transceiver of this size.

Hi,
I have extensively experimented with the use of CW. Having a "minimal" antenna I make the most of the digital modes. I confirm that in transmission the Xiegu allows all the adjustments you need: key type, speed, sidetone control. In reception it has a built-in modem. However, you have to play a little with the speed setting to find the correct WPM value. It is a really useful function. But is better to have a "trained" ear to optimize the settings immediately. An all-in-one radio, many QSOs completed and given my conditions I am satisfied.

I am considering purchasing the 6100 for low power digital modes, CW and PSK. From what I learned the transceiver has a built-in decoder for these modes, has anyone run any tests on this? Tnx.

The X6100 compared to other portable SDR transceivers is offering me a lot. Ten watts and ATU, affordable, in a compact package for my QRP operations! A good set of tools, easy learning curve; at least in my experience. It has met my expectations. Yes, a transceiver like the IC-705 has higher performance, but at double the cost ...

Carlo48March-29 2022

The Xiegu X6100 can give a lot of satisfaction but as a home device: it was born as a laptop but how long can a screen of that size last on a trip to the sea, by bicycle in the countryside or in the mountains? It has no protection: a case, a shockproof protective cage with handle, a removable Plexiglas screen protector to be placed in front of the display, nothing. Nice RTX, fragile for the purpose for which it is addressed.
