General

The 2.4-inch High-Resolution QVGA Full-Color TFT Display shows the communication status and settings of the transceiver in a straightforward manner, achieving excellent operability.
High-resolution band scope that displays 61 channels.
Equipped with a front speaker. The AESS (Acoustic Enhanced Speaker System) dual speaker system uses the main body speaker in combination the front panel speaker to provide clear audio quality and spacious SD sound.
Total audio output is 9 Watt (3 Watt main body, 6 Watt control head) High sound quality, loud speakers.
Digital communication using Yaesu C4FM (Quaternary FSK) radio system.
Built-in GPS unit permits display of the current location and heading information.
Equipped with Bluetooth function as standard. Supports hands-free communication using the optional headset SSM-BT10 or a commercially available product.
Compatible with micro-SD memory cards.
Illuminated keyboard to assist operation in dark or poor lighting.

Operation

Swing head function allows adjusting the control head angle upward by about 20 degrees.
The Custom Function List (CFL) can be personalized by registering frequently used functions (up to 8) from the 127 items Setup Menu.
The latest operating system E2O-IV (Easy to Operate-IV) affords a new operating feeling with dual mobile Touch & Go and Search & Go functions.
Large-capacity 1104 memory channels.
Memory Channel Band Auto Grouping (MAG). The memory channels are automatically categorized in each band, so that memory channels can be easily and quickly recalled.
The PMG (Primary Memory Group) Activity Monitor function can register up to 5 channels with the receive frequencies of the VFO or memory channels by simply pressing and holding an key. Press the same key to scan the registered frequencies and display the reception status, the signal trength, in a real time bar graph.
The DG-ID (Digital Group ID) feature, and the Group Monitor (GM) feature enable automatically locating, and communicating with other stations that are within contact range and have the matching DG-ID number (number from 00 to 99).
Built-in CTCSS, DCS, and Pager (EPCS) encode/decode functions, enable the Selective Call features.
Ready for APRS communication with standard 1200/9600bps AX25 modem.
Versatile Rear panel DATA terminal (GPS data output, Waypoint data output, Packet, HRI-200 / WIRES-X Portable digital Node connection).

FTM-500DR / FTM-500DE angle variable swing-head :

The angle of the control-head can be adjusted upward by 20 degrees with respect to the radio-unit. Visibility of the display is ensured, even when installed under the dashboard of the vehicle. Additionally, by attaching the optional Swing-head kit (SJMK-500) to the control-head, flexible angle adjustment is possible. Even when the installation space is limited, operation can be from the best angle.
