The Tecsun PL-398 is a multiband radio equipped with a pair of 57 mm diameter speakers that guarantee a stereo listening for FM stations without requiring the use of headphones. Frequency coverage includes long, medium and short waves. By means of the DSP technology various filter widths (1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 KHz) can be selected to reduce interference from adjacent channels when listening to AM. The tuning can be done through a knob on the right side, using the front keyboard, recalling a memory location, making an automatic search among the memories, or even activating an automatic scan to identify dominant signals. The display shows the frequency, signal strength, status icons, the clock and the temperature.
Other features: clock, alarm, sleep timer, keypad lock, internal ferrite antenna for LW MW bands and extractable stylus for SW FM, signal strength indicator, battery charge indicator.
The receiver is available in two variants with the particularity of integrating a different system of interfacing with external audio sources that can therefore be reproduced using the pair of speakers it is equipped. The PL-398-BT model has a Bluetooth circuit, which makes it possible to create a wireless connection with music-players or other devices, as smartphones, that use the same standard technology. The model PL-398-MP instead has a slot for reading SD-card, the user can then make use of their own MP3 compilations.

I got the PL 398 MP about a week ago. It's basically the same as the PL 380, but with an additional speaker and an MP3 player which frankly is nearly useless. If Tecsun had used the tech from the Q3 micro player I would have been delighted. I give it a C+ vote.
