Transceiver operating on Amateur bands between 1.8 and 29.7 MHz with a quadruple conversion receiver covering the 150 kHz to 30 MHz range. Designed for operation on SSB, AM, FSK and CW the TS930S delivers more than 120 Watts, RF power is supplied by two Motorola MRF-422 transistors operating push-pull. Final amplifier protection circuits, cooling fan, and SWR/P meter are built-in. Dynamic range performance for the receiver section is 100dB with a blocking of 135dB. Features as IF slope tuning for independent adjustment of the low and/or high frequency slopes of the passband, CW VBT and audio filter controls, IF notch filter, 100 kHz calibrator, RIT, RF attenuator, two VFO's, two effective noise blankers with threshold control. VOX, CW full and semi break-in, RF speech processor, AC power supply, optional (standard on TS930SAT) automatic antenna tuner. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1982.

TS-930S review
KA2PTE | September-20 2024 |
Early serial units have some issues with the power supply, but there are fixes for them. RF final amp tends to run hot, as does the PS. As long as the fans work its a pretty reliable radio. The MARS mod will let it work on the new 60M band as you can program in the channels into its memory.
