Features 100 regular memories, 6 characters alpha tags, VOX, simple repeater operation, 0-69.95 MHz repeater offset frequency, six different scan type, CTCSS / DCS and 1750 Hz tone burst, wide and narrow deviation selection, backlit keypad. PC-programmable. This radio meets stringent MIL-STD-810 standards for resistance to rain, vibration, shock, humidity and also the IP54 standard for dust and water resistance. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 2003.

TH-K4 vs TH-K2 and TH-K40 :

The Kenwood TH-K2 is similar to TH-K4, but operates on 2-meters amateur band instead of 70cm. The TH-K4 handheld transceiver in 2011 was replaced by the Kenwood TH-K40 with a better frequency stability.
