The Icom ID-52 is a 144/430 MHz dual-band handheld radio with D-STAR and FM modes. The transceiver supports conventional communications as well as digital voice with data via D-STAR simplex, repeater, regional, and worldwide calls over the D-STAR Internet gateway. Features: Main and Sub bands. The Dual watch function monitors the VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF, and VHF/UHF bands simultaneously (also DV/DV Dual watch). DV/FM near repeater search function. Terminal/Access Point modes. QSO log in CSV data format. VHF Civil and UHF Military Airband reception. Picture Sharing functions. 58mm (2.3 inches) color transflective display, with Waterfall Scope function. Built-in GPS/GLONASS receiver. Micro-SD card slot. Voice recorder function. The following features are enhanced from the previous Icom ID-51 / ID-51 PLUS2 model: Simultaneous reception in V/V, U/U, V/U as well as DV/DV. Air band reception is expanded, from only VHF to V/UHF. The new ID-52 model can be charged via micro USB connector. Audio output is significantly increased, from 400 to 750 mW. The display size is increased to 2.3 inches, only 1.7 inches for the ID-51.
ID-52A / E dualwatch :
The Dualwatch function monitors the VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF and VHF/UHF bands simultaneously. You can quickly respond to a call from the Main and Sub bands. Two DV (Digital Voice) signals can be decoded at the same time. FM broadcast stations can be listened to while using the dualwatch function. Hold down [DUAL] key for 1 second to turn the Dualwatch function ON or OFF. When the Dualwatch function is ON, the display shows the A band in the upper half and the B band in the lower half of the display.
ID-52A / E integrated GPS/GLONASS receiver :
D-PRS mode is supported by the internal GPS receiver for sending your location and showing received station location, distance, and direction from your current location. In addition to your location, the ICOM ID-52 displays your current Grid Square information. The GPS position data can be used for Position Auto Reply, Near Repeater Search, and GPS log functions.

The GPS Logger function enables you to save the location data from a GPS receiver onto a microSD card as a log. The GPS Logger saves Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Positioning state, Course, Speed, Date, and Time. If you use this GPS Logger while traveling, you can check your trip history on mapping software.
ID-52A / E micro-SD card and micro-USB :
You can store QSO Recording, TX Voice Memory, pictures, GPS log data. Firmware upgrades, Repeater lists and other personal settings onto a microSD card (up to 32 GB), this can be uploaded into the ID-52A radio.

The ICOM ID-52 has a multi-function USB port as well as USB host function, for charging the battery packs, PC Programming, read/write contents to the microSD card, Terminal/Access Point mode support, as well as CI-V control as well as audio.
ID-52A / E Bluetooth enabled features :
The transceiver has a built-in Bluetooth unit. You can connect Bluetooth headsets or other devices. When you connect a Bluetooth headset to the transceiver, you can wirelessly transmit and receive it. The optional VS-3 Bluetooth headset enables hands-free wireless operation. In addition to the PTT and volume up/down buttons, the VS-3 has 3 programmable buttons that can be assigned functions to improve operability and mobility.

You can easily connect to an Android device through Bluetooth. The Android device with the RS-MS1A Remote Control Software installed, can wirelessly control the ID-52 to change operating frequencies and other settings. The communication range of Bluetooth is approximately 10 meters. The communication range may vary of-course, depending on the environment in which the device operates.
