The IC-R10 is a wide-band scanner capable of receiving in CW, LSB, USB, AM, FM and WFM modes. Features: Built in 20dB RF attenuator, 1000 memory channels with 8 character alphanumeric names for ease of use, bandscope function, SIGNAVI function searches for busy frequencies, VSC (Voice Scanning Control) scan, scan speed 16 ch/sec (programmed) and 6 ch/sec (memory), CI-V computer connection. The NB (Noise Blanker) function removes pulse-type noise when SSB or CW is selected, while the ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter) function reduces noise components when AM is selected. The AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) function tunes the displayed frequency automatically when an off-center FM signal is received. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1996.

The IC-R10 has 2 major scan types: PROGRAMMED SCAN and MEMORY SCAN. These, in turn, can be subdivided into 3 variations of each, making a total of 6 scan operations. Additional scanning functions are available to "fine tune" scanning operation. The following diagrams illustrate the operation of each scan type.
ICOM IC-R10 Program Scan:
Repeatedly scans between two user-programmed frequencies (scan edges).
ICOM IC-R10 Full Scan:
Repeatedly scans operatable frequency range.
ICOM IC-R10 Memory Scan:
Repeatedly scans all programmed memory channels except blank channels.
ICOM IC-R10 Bank Scan:
Repeatedly scans all memory channels in the selected BANK except blank channels.
ICOM IC-R10 Mode Select Scan:
Repeatedly scans all memory channels with the selected receive mode.
ICOM IC-R10 Auto-Memory Write Scan:
Same as PROGRAMMED SCAN except that paused frequencies are automatically stored in memory channels Q00-Q99.
