The CCRadio-2E faithfully follows the philosophy of "C.Crane" to mean an AM / FM radio easy to use where an excellent section for medium waves, characterized by a ferrite antenna of considerable efficiency, is flanked by an FM tuner with appreciable audio quality. More, two relatively unreleased bands: the amateur radio segment of 144 MHz and the 7 standard channels dedicated in the USA / Canada on 162 MHz for NOAA Weather Alert System as follow.

Other features: generously sized ferrite resonant internal antenna for Medium Waves, 20 cm long, to which an external antenna can be coupled for demanding receptions. Squelch function, that is silencing in the absence of a signal, with 12 levels of intervention for the 144 MHz band. Low / high audio tone control, clock, alarm, sleep timer for programmable automatic switch-off between 120, 90, 60, 45, 30 and 15 minutes. Line connections for audio including timer-activated socket suitable for enabling a recorder. Status indicator for batteries.

CCRadio-2E performance and practical notes :

This CCrane model adopts a robust case, already differentiating itself from the classic mini-radio for the mass-consumer market, able to offer a better reception on the 520~1710 KHz segment. This is not an receiver designed for DXer, this also because the tuning steps far from ideal for Europeans, but still capable of significant performance even if under certain conditions we note the lack of an attenuator that can shift the dynamic-range depending on whether or not there is a strong local station. The 144~148 MHz band it is a bonus that allows you to follow amateur FM radio traffic, an opportunity to get to know these activities addressed to those who have not so far approached VHF listening. On the other hand, the 162 MHz band is of limited importance out of North America, in fact in other continents these frequencies are destined for radio-mobile networks (PMR) for the various civil users and therefore only by chance certain channels allow usefull listen.
