The UV82HP is the second generation of the classic UV-82 series. Some new features are the three selectable power levels, low (1 watt), medium (more than 4 watt), high (8 watt on VHF), and the dual push-to-talk button. The dual PTT is a huge leap forward, it allows you to transmit on two frequencies by the use of the rocker PTT switch. By pressing up you can transmit on "Frequency A" and by pushing down you can transmit on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can also be used with specific CTCSS and DTS tones. Of course on the UV-82HP you are even able to synchronize the button to enable single push-to-talk communications.

Compared to previous Baofeng products as UV-5R, GT-3, and the v2+ series, this UV82HP comes with a much louder speaker, a much more solid case with larger buttons, and a new chipset/PCB board. It is not simply a remake but a new radio from the ground up. It outperforms the 2nd generation UV-5R chipset used in the UV-5Rs, GT-3 BF-F8+, and v2+ series.
