The transceiver provides for automatic mode changing when the radio is tuned to different operating frequencies. However, should an unusual receiving situation arise in which you need to change to a different receiving mode, just press the [MODE] key. The receiving modes available are: AUTO, Automatic mode sets the default values for the selected frequency range. FM, Narrow-bandwidth frequency modulation used for voice communication. AM, Amplitude modulation used for Short Wave broadcasting. WFM, Wide-bandwidth frequency modulation used for high-fidelity broadcasting.
Yaesu VX-3, MODE key
The VX-3 covers a wide frequency range, over which a number of different operating modes are used. Therefore, the frequency coverage has been divided into different operating bands, each of which has its own pre-set channel steps and operating modes:
Band / Frequency range | |
---|---|
[1] SW band | 1.8-30 MHz |
[2] 50 MHz Ham band | 30-76 MHz |
[3] Air band | 108-137 MHz |
[4] 144 MHz Ham band | 137-174 MHz |
[5] VHF TV band | 174-222 MHz |
[6] Information band | 222-420 MHz |
[7] 430 MHz Ham band | 420-470 MHz |
[8] UHF TV band | 470-774 MHz (USA version) 470-800 MHz (EXP/EU version) |
[9] Information band | 803-999 MHz |
You can change the channel steps and operating modes, if you like.
