Vintage Yaesu multi-mode transceiver for the 6m amateur band. Power output is 2.5 Watts (AM 0.8W), switchable to 0.5 Watt (AM 0.2W). Powered by dry cell or Ni-Cd batteries and with telescoping whip antenna, completely self-contained and portable. Noise blanker, receiver clarifier (RIT), 10 memory channels, two VFO, multi-use analog meter. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1981.

The Yaesu FT-690R transceiver was upgraded with the FT-690R II (Mark II) version, similar in specifications but with different front panel. Up to 10 Watts of RF power output are available as option in Mark II when used with the FL-6020 clip-on amplifier.
