HF transceiver with DSP, fine (1 Hz) tuning with Direct Digital Synthesizer and 150 Watt output. 100 kHz to 30 MHz general coverage receiver, dual-frequency receive capability which can be within 1 MHz of each other, independent IF and AF circuits for Main and Sub circuits. The RF preamplifier and 15 band-pass filters, including 10 BPF for amateur bands, together offer outstanding two-signal characteristics. For SSB independent high-cut and low-cut controls permit the operator to select the ideal IF passband. In CW/FSK/AM modes, the IF variable-bandwidth tuning (VBT) control allows the operator to avoid interfering signals while maintaining optimal signal-to-noise ratio. Dual-mode noise blanker plus noise-select function. MRF150MP MOSFET on the final section for high reliability, built-in automatic antenna tuner, temperature-compensated master oscillator, AC power supply, multi-function display and digital bar meter. Quick memory feature, the 5 channels reserved for this purpose are independent of main memory. RM-1 remote function keypad supplied. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1992.

TS-950 series :
The Kenwood's base model TS-950S, first introduced in 1990, was also labeled as TS-950S-Digital which have the following options included: Digital signal processor DSP-10, high-stability TCXO oscillator SO-2, IF filters YK-88C-1 (CW, 500Hz) / YG-455C-1 (CW, 500Hz) / YG-455CN-1 (CW, 250Hz) / YG-455S-1 (SSB, 2.4kHz). The transceiver was upgraded with the TS-950SDX model two years later, new feature include the Key-Speed control knob and the native signal processing circuit while the following module and filters are included as standard equipment: High-stability TCXO oscillator SO-2, YK-88C-1 (CW, 500Hz) / YG-455C-1 (CW, 500Hz) / YG-455S-1 (SSB, 2.4kHz).
TS-950SDX semi break-in switching time :
The transceiver RX to TX switching time in CW semi break-in is approximately 15ms (milli-seconds). With an external linear amplifier, at key down, the TS-950SDX may see an open circuit because the amplifier keying relay has not engaged. As a result, the transceiver protection circuit turns on, causing the output to be reduced. If this should occur, cut jumper W1 as show in the illustration.
Kenwood TS-950SDX semi break-in switching time setting
This will change the RX to TX switching time to approximately 30ms. The full break-in switching time is not affected by this change.
