The Uniden UBC785-XLT is a scanner that covers the most important segments of the V/UHF with the exclusion of the bands 512-806 MHz and 960-1240 MHz. This scanner is aimed to those who follow the traffic of services as firefighters, aeronautics, PMR in general, in addition to amateur radio activities, with this objective the lack of coverage affects very little the use of the receiver. Always in the philosophy of offering a scanner already predisposed to certain types of radio communications, the Uniden UBC785XLT proposes three band-plans to be chosen by the user, these profiles link certain frequency ranges with the mode (AM, FM and WFM) and the tuning step. By default, therefore, by setting a channel in the VHF aeronautical band, the scanner places itself in AM with steps as rightly required in this context. Another peculiarity of this Uniden-Bearcat concerns the type of installation, for the overall dimensions and power supply it is easy to use it either in a fixed position or in a vehicle. The mounting bracket, similar to the one that is combined with certain CB devices, further facilitates mounting.
Another important feature concerns alpha tags. This function allows to replace the traditional information shown in the display, such as frequency and mode, with a freely definable writing. In this way the scanner operates in a more anonymous way, preventing others from reading sensitive information. Again the use within a vehicle, with the problems of the case, is the reason that made this option developed.
UBC785XLT other features :
RF attenuator, 1000 memories with the possibility to assign a label up to 16 characters, 10 priority channels, search for memories or between the only priority channels or even between band limits. Fast scan of 100 CH/second and Turbo Search function of 300 CH/second with 5 KHz steps. Auto Store function to automatically store the frequencies found active during a scan in a defined bank. Frequency Skip to prevent the receiver from stopping on unwanted channels. Recognition of the audio tone and sub-tones DCS / CTCSS for the squelch-on. Structured menu for settings and functions, remote control via RS232, clone function between two UBC-785-XLT.

UBC785XLT performance and practical notes :
The Uniden UBC785 is a scanner that is not very common in Europe, although formally addressed also to the EU market is in fact in North America that has found wide appreciation. Overall it is a robust and reliable receiver, able to operate even at extreme temperatures. Among the strengths, users report the effectiveness of Turbo Search, very fast and precise in identifying a signal, as well as a hight sensitivity. On this last point the opinion is based on experiences of use rather than on values declared by the producer. Otherwise the menu could be considered complicated by some, this aspect is naturally influenced by personal preferences.
