BCD996 description :

The BCD996, first offer as Uniden BCD996XT and later as Uniden BCD996P2 (phase-2), is a receiver that covers the most relevant segments of the VHF and UHF with the exclusion, in short, of the bands 512 ~ 758 MHz and 960 ~ 1240 MHz. This scanner finds both fixed and vehicular installation and is specifically aimed at those who follow the PMR radio traffic. The apparatus, created for the US market, is already prepared according to a band-plan that relates certain frequency ranges with the mode (AM, FM, WFM) and the tuning step. By default, therefore, by setting a channel in the VHF aeronautical band, the scanner places itself in AM with steps of 8.333 KHz as required in this context.

The Uniden BCD996 scanner allows to follow the PMR networks not only on single frequency, simplex or duplex via repeater, but also the trunking systems that employ a group of channels dynamically managed by multiple users as a radio resource allocated to individual communications according to a defined protocol. The supported trunking systems are Motorola Type I and II, EDACS, LTR, APCO Astro 25. It is recalled that these standards have their main diffusion in the North American continent.
