RX-1300 description :
The Plomar RX-1300 is a medium-sized handset aimed at listening to only the AM and FM modes with a discrete operating autonomy. It uses a 1900 mA/h Lithium-Ion battery pack which, in listening, offers adequate energy to a sound with sustained power, not common in this class of equipment. A total of 1300 memory locations are available, of which 1000 are divided into 44 banks with a variable number of locations assigned to them, so as to freely manage a database of frequencies divided, for example, by services or geographical area. Other locations are dedicated to store the frequencies found active during a scan while a group of 50 memories is served by the dual-watch function that is the alternating reception of two channels.
RX-1300 performance and practical notes :
This Polmar scanner is suitable for those looking for a mid-range receiver aimed at listening to broadcast, PMR, and aeronautical radio services. For the latter there is the 8.333 KHz step option which makes it possible to follow the VHF channeling between 108 ~ 136 MHz with precision. The presence of the numerical keyboard facilitates the direct entry of a frequency while a set of other buttons, arranged on the front and on the left side, governs the various commands and settings of use. The structure of these commands requires to be familiar with the control logic that in the RX-1300 is anything but challenging but in some ways not the most intuitive. Sensitivity is adequate, perhaps overestimated in some bands. The design of the RF front-end and IF stages is similar to what is found in other portable scanners and therefore the overall performance does not differ from the average values of the category.
