TR-851 vs TR-751 :

The Kenwood TR-751 is similar to TR-851, but operates on 2-meters band (144-148 MHz) instead of 70cm.

TR-851A / E repeater operations :

Offset feature: this feature causes the transmitter frequency to shift above or below the receiver frequency. The amount of the offset (shift) is show in the table below.

You can select the desidered transmitter offset by repeatedly pressing the OFFSET key. The display will indicate which offset has been selected by turning on a small bar under the selected offset. In simplex mode no bar will show under the "+", "-", "D-A" or "D-B". The REV switch reverses the transmit and receive frequencies when using an OFFSET or split frequency memory (channel 9 or 0). This function is used to check the repeater's input frequency or operate on reverse repeater, where input/output frequencies are opposite to those of a normal repeater.

To use the REVERSE function press the REV key. The REV indicator in the display will illuminate and the displayed frequency will change to the old transmit frequency. The TR-851 will now transmit on the old receive frequency when the PTT switch is depressed.
