TM-261A / EJ
144 MHz FM mobile Transceiver. Up to 50 Watts power output (TM261A) or up to 10 Watts (TM261EJ). Programmable with a RX Tone and TX Tone separately, this enhances the CTCSS system. Dual tone squelch system (DTSS) allows selective calling of specific stations. 62 memories. Memory indexing conveniently allows you to assign names to channels. In memory recall mode, memory channel numbers can be displayed instead of frequencies if you choose. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1994.

This mobile transceiver in 2003 was replaced by the Kenwood TM-271, an MIL-STD-compliant radio.
TM-261A / EJ CTCSS unit :
Installing the TSU-8 CTCSS unit in the Kenwood TM-261
Instructions. Remove the two screws from the upper cover of the transceiver. Remove the upper cover. Now hold the TSU-8 unit with the large IC facing downward and insert the connector on the CTCSS unit into the 8-pin connector as shown. Take care to keep the TSU-8 horizontal when inserting it into the 8-pin connector.
