TH-D7A / E
144 / 430 MHz FM Dual Bander with High Power output: 6 Watts on VHF band and 5.5 Watts on UHF band. This transceiver has a built-in 1200/9600bps TNC which conforms to the AX.25 protocol, includes a program for dealing with data formats supported by Automatic Packet / Position Reporting System (APRS). Is capable of receiving packet data on one band while receiving audio on another band. Contains 200 memory channels, each channel can be named using up to 8 alphanumeric and special ASCII characters. Employs a 4-way cursor key so that you can program most of the functions with only one hand. Enhances the functions of an optional VC-H1 Interactive Visual Communicator designed for plug-and-play color slow-scan television (SSTV). Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1999.

This transceiver, first introduced in 1999, was updated with the TH-D7AG and TH-D7E2 models. Enhanced versions with new TNC, TNC firmware, and selective calling features.
TH-D7 legacy :
This portable transceiver in 2010 was replaced by the Kenwood TH-D72, an advanced radio with a built-in GPS receiver unit and GPS Logger.
TH-D7A / E cursor keys :
This transceiver employs 4 cursor keys so that you can program most of the functions with only one hand. The UP/ DWN keys function in the exact same way as the Tuning control. These keys change frequencies, memory channels, or other selections, depending on the current transceiver mode.
Kenwood TH-D7 cursor keys
OK key, press to move to the next step or to complete the setting in various selection modes such as Function Select or Menu mode. ESC key, press to move back to the previous step or to quit the setting in various selection modes such as Function Select or Menu mode.
TH-D7A / E remote control :
Make connections as shown when remotely controlling equipment.
Connecting equipment for remote control of the Kenwood TH-D7
Note 1: 3.5V is present in this line. Note 2: A 10 uF capacitor is not required when the other equipment has DC blocking capacitors or when a 2-terminal electret condenser microphone is used.
TH-D7A / E external equipment :
When connecting an external speaker, an external microphone, or other equipment such as a TNC for packet radio to the SP jack or MIC jack, refer to the diagram below.
Connecting speaker-microphone or TNC to the Kenwood TH-D7
Note 1: Voltage is developed across the 100Ω resistor in the 3.5V line in the transceiver. When 2 mA flows, approximately 3.3V is developed. Note 2: A 10 uF capacitor is not required in the following cases, when the other equipment has DC blocking capacitors, when a 2-terminal electret condenser microphone is used.
