The IC-R2 is a small scanner, simple to operate - with quick and easy band switching, and only requires two Ni-Cd or alkaline cells. Wide frequency coverage from 495 kHz to 1309.995 MHz with AM, FM and WFM receive modes. Triple-conversion system, 400 memory channels, auto squelch system that eliminates critical settings, multi scan functions, priority watch function, built-in RF attenuator to help reduce interference from strong local signals, auto power-off function which is selectable from 30/60/90 or 120 minutes. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1998.

Optimal. I've been using it for a long time, very sensitive, perhaps too much with a high-performance external antenna. Still, a nice radio.
