DE1104 description :

The Degen DE-1104 is a compact double conversion portable radio in mixed technology, in FM broadcasting it uses a PLL synthesizer while on medium and short waves the tuning is analogue with the display that shows the frequency measured. Among the features: tuning by rotary control on the right side, with recall from the memories and with automatic scanning (only in FM). Telescopic antenna for SW / FM, internal ferrite antenna for MW, input for SW external antenna. LCD display with indication of frequency / time / day and signal level / battery charger. Display illumination with orange light. Switch between Local / DX in the SW band. Audio tone control (two profiles: music and news). Auto-off timer in 1~90 minutes, two alarms with programmable power-on. Compatible with alkaline and rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, integrated battery charger combined with the external mains adapter.

DE1104 performance and practical notes :

Cheap receiver of good overall performance with the particularity of using mechanical tuning, without PLL synthesizer, on medium and short waves bands. The frequency range in the SW band include almost all the segments destined for broadcasting stations while the sensitivity is suitable to guarantee effective listening in many conditions. The use in the DX area is limited due to the mediocre selectivity and dynamic range in the presence of strong signals, while the audio output supported by a generously sized speaker is noteworthy.
