SS6900 description :

The SS-6900 (this radio can be found under names as Superstar SS6900N, Anytone AT-5555, K-PO DX-5000, Intek HR-5500, Alpha AM-1000, Comtex CS-1000, MAAS DX-5000, Hannover BR-9000) is a 10M band multimode transceiver with excellent audio (RX & TX) that is menu-driven / PC programmable to meet personal preferences. Although this transceiver has been available under various brands the CRT SS-6900 is latest version. Please note, standard radio is supplied for the 28 MHz band only, modification can be done by pushing a sequence of buttons on the front. Features: Microphone with UP/DOWN key, automatic squelch, dual watch (DW), emergency call, CW capable, roger beep, echo, clarifier, 10 Hz min step, RF-gain, SWR-meter, NB / ANL function, +10 KHz key, scan, time-out-timer (TOT), SWR protection, protection against high supply voltage.

15	FUNC This is a functional key. Press and hold for 2 seconds to enter into Function Menu setup. Press FUNC key and other individual key to realize the second function silk-screened under the button. For example, press FUNC key followed by pressing RB key to realize the BP function
16	ROGER BEEP (RB) or BEEP FUNCTION (BP) Press RB key to enable ROGER BEEP function, the radio will automatically transmit the audio signal at the end of your transmission. Press FUNC+RB to realize BP function, speaker would emit a BEEP for prompting when press any key
17	NB / ANL or LOCK Press NB/ANL key to enable the Noise Blanker / Automatic Noise Limiter. Press FUNC+NB/ANL to realize the keyboard lock function. When this function is enabled all keys are invalid except PTT, BAND SWITCH, and MODE SWITCH
18	DW or LCD OFF The DW (Dual Watch) function allows automatic alternate monitoring of two channels. To enable the DW function firstly turn the SQUELCH control clockwise until the background noise is cut out. Select the first channel by using the CHANNEL SELECTOR. Press the DW key and the DW icon will flash on the LCD display. Now follow the above procedures to select the second channel. Finally, press the DW key again and the radio will start monitoring (scanning) the two channels. Press FUNC+DW for switch off the LCD
19	SCAN or Scan.list Press the SCAN key to enable the scan function. Press FUNC+SCAN for add/delete the current channel from scan list
20	+10KHZ or HI-CUT Press +10KHZ key to shift frequency up by 10 kHz. Press FUNC++10KHZ to realize HI-CUT function, the radio would cut out high frequency interference
21	SWR or TOT When press this key and transmit bars indicate SWR value other than PA or PWR value. One bar displaying on the LCD indicates that SWR value is 1:1. Each additional bar indicates x.1 added value. Press FUNC+SWR for switch on/off the Total Time function
22	EMG or S/RF Press the EMG key to switch on Emergency Channel. Press FUNC+S/RF to switch on/off the Signal/Power bars

I've had many of these and also repaired many of these that have been mis sold as doing 40W. When set up 10 Watt AM/FM and 20 Watt SSB they work well and last forever, (over ten years so far) but avoid ones which sell stating they do 40W, they will but not for long. Lower the power, set the AM Audio and FM deviation and they're a good radio, use them like an idiot CBer and screw the power up high they fail easily.

An excellent radio that goes from 10 to 12 meters passing through the classic CB 27 MHz band with ease and performance. Intuitive and easy to program. The only drawback, it lacks a fan for heat dissipation that I added on the back, and a "modulation" a bit low. The supplied microphone looks like a toy, it could be improved...
