The Baofeng UV-25X2 operates as multiple radios in one, with either VHF or UHF as the main transmit/receive band while simultaneously watching up to three other frequencies or channels. Also is possible to configure this Baofeng for simultaneous VHF-VHF or UHF-UHF operation. The radio moreover introduces a new sync mode, with this option the user can single or dual-sync two different channels and display both their frequency and name simultaneously. If the user prefer instead to monitor up to four channels is displayed on each single line a channel's name or frequency. For commercial and private business applications with DTMF tones a master radio-station can send commands to UV-25X2 units for:
- Remote Stun
When the radio receives the DTMF remote stun tone sequence, as set by software, it will command the radio to disable transmitting abilities. The master ID station must first identify and send the PTTID (Master ID), once the master station identifies itself, the radio is set to receive command tones, if the Monitor Remote Stun tone is received the radio will no longer be able to transmit.
- Remote Kill
When the radio receives the DTMF remote kill tone sequence, again set by software, it will command the radio to disable transmitting and receiving.
- Remote Revive
When the radio receives the DTMF remote revive tone sequence it will reactivate the radio after it has been remotely stunned or killed.

Scan features: a new menu allows you to select scanning resume methods, you can set the radio to start scanning immediately during reboot, resume scanning if you interrupt scanning to transmit, or start scanning soon as it powers on. The UV25X2 will save your scanning preferences even with a power interruption. Frequency scanning has gotten a full overhaul, you can edit and scan through frequencies exactly as you prefer.
